The best weekend for a romantic get away in Venice is the one of the third week of July, when the city is beautifully decorated for the most beloved event by all Venetians, the Redentore. It’s a long tradition, four hundred years old, born in order to thank God for banishing the devastating plague which gwaned at Venice during the XVI century. The Redentore has now for quite some time taken on te features of a real metropolitan party. Among every alley, in every square and place, families, young people and children lose themselves in the celebration. Music, loud voices and all kind of jokes: it’s like Venice becomes one unit of vibrant enthisiasm and joy. For two years the city never sleeps, it’s almost impossible to find a quiet corner: but then, on Saturday night, at 11.30 pm, magically silence is all you can hear.
Everyone’s faces and eyes are looking up towards the dark sky, that suddlendly lightens up with colours and hues of beautiful fireworks. The firework show reflects on the waters of the lagoon in a playing of reflectionss and waves, which amaze every heart. From every corner of Venice is possible to admire the view, from the Punta della Dogana to the Riva degli Schiavoni, from the Giudecca to the islands. Hundres of ships lie on the waters, while an immense crowd of people fill banks and nearest beaches. In this magic night everything can happen; all you have to do is letting go of all your worries and daily stress and enjoy the joyful feeling that beats like a heart in the city, following the flow of partying people. This is the magic of Venice, of the unforgattable and unique Venice.
