The Church Palace, A Love Story – 3rd episode

Our third episode of “The Church Palace, a love story”: the journey continues…

“An hour of walk and it was 7 o’clock. Mario was waiting for the classic morning coffee in his cafe at the corner of Via del Cottolengo, but we continued on without a definite goal. My pages were now wet from the perspiration of damp palms. Sandro did not seem tired. He paused only for a minute to light a cigarette. […] “In bocca al lupo”, said Sandro, to wish me luck, and gave me a slap on the back. He knew well that at
8:30 would be my most important interview.”

Meeting with Sandro and a job interview

The two lovers take a walk with Sandro, one of his childhood friend, following the path of the Tevere river, during a quiet, almost melancholy night. The darkness around them sparkles when Sandro lights a cigarette. He asks the male character if he would like to take a drag, and he accept it, trying to loose up a little bit before his important job interview, planned for the following morning. Being a writer, a journalist, a novelist… writing has always been his first love, since he was a little child. The young man proceeds with light steps towards the building of the meeting, almost afraid of what was going to happen. But he’s definetly early, he quenches his hungry with a sweet maritozzo (typical sweet pastry of Rome) and finally it’s time to go. The first to welcome him it’s the office secretary, all dark hair and sweet smile. Outside the windows, even the city of Rome, beautiful and magestic, is waiting to find out the young man’s destiny.

It’s the 1950: nothing will ever be the same.
